making the site name a hyperlink to the home page

At the very top where we put our site name in, can we turn that into a hyperlink that leads to the index where all the categories are listed.

Yes you can. You will need to use the following HTML in your template file (overall_header.html) for example. You can edit it via the control panel.
Code: Select all
<a href="{U_INDEX}" title="{L_INDEX}">{SITENAME}</a>

You need to find in your overall_header where it says something along the lines of {SITENAME}, which would be the title of your forum. Then add the code that Doobdee provided witht he URL of your forum

Hi,
I am not quite understanding. I have a line that looks like this.
<title>{SITENAME} &bull; <!-- IF S_IN_MCP -->{L_MCP} &bull; <!-- ELSEIF S_IN_UCP -->{L_UCP} &bull; <!-- ENDIF -->{PAGE_TITLE}</title>
How would I make the title link to our home page.
Home page is http://www.grandshelters.com. The title already is Grandshelters.com but I would like to link this to our home page, not the index of the forum.
Thanks

I would try replacing {SITENAME} with this code, let me know if it works

Code: Select all
<a href="http://www.grandshelters.com" title="{L_INDEX}">{SITENAME}</a>

The title will still be set to index, but I think it should link you to the URL

Hi,
The last suggestion worked when I did the replace on the second occurrence of {SITENAME}
The first occurrence changed the title bar of the browser at the top.
The only thing now is that putting your cursor over the title brings up what appears to be alt-text and shows "board index". Is there a way to have it show Grand Shelters Home.
I did not find any occurrence of the phrase "Board Index" in the overall header.html
Thanks a bunch.

Hi Husker,
Just to mention the forum is located at:
http://grandshelters.com/phpBB3/index.php
This might help to know if you would like to see what''s happening.
Again, thanks a lot for your help.
We are trying to get this ready to go on-line in the next day or two. Gotta be ready for the next season.

I think that in the code above, if you change title="{L_INDEX}" to something like title="Grand Shelters" it should work.

I hope this works.

If you ever need anymore help let me know

I just went thru all these steps for my board, and it all worked great. Now I'm wondering if someone can help me change the color of the text? I would like the text to show as white normally, and then when I hover my house over it, to show light green (for example). Is this possible?

Here is the line of text as I have it now:
<h1><a href="http://www.mixriders.com" title="MIXRiders Home">{SITENAME}</a></h1>

Thank you!!

OK, I just changed my font color to light blue:
Code: Select all
<h1><a href="http://www.mixriders.com" title="MIXRiders Home">
<font color="#99CCFF">{SITENAME}</font></a></h1>

It's not perfect (hovering mouse over it created a red underline, but the font color itself remains light blue), but it's acceptable for now. Anybody else know how to change the color of JUST THIS TEXT to something else, so when you hover the mouse over it, it changes to the proper hover color (red, in my case)?
