[MorpheusX Style] How to apply mods to MorpheusX style

Postby Greg on Fri Feb 04, 2005 11:14 pm

Hello,

There have been many users on this forum with questions relating to editing MorpheusX or other styles. In this short tutorial, I will explain how to do this. Someone menstioned a tutorial before, and I decided to write one.

Before you read this, you should know mods that require editing of templates are only supposed to work with Subsilver, it is unlickly you will find the exact bit of code you need to edit. Look for keywords Morpheus/X is a complex style and you will not find the code, do not use easy mod on Morpheus, mod it manually

1. Footer is all squahed to the left
Image

Solution

On top of tpl file put this if you want top navigation:

Code: Select all
{TPL_CONTENT_TOPNAV1}<table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" width="100%">
<tr>
   <td align="left" class="navbar-links"><a href="{U_INDEX}">{L_INDEX}</a></td>
   <td align="right" class="navbar-text">{CURRENT_TIME}</td>
</tr>
</table>{TPL_CONTENT_TOPNAV2}

or this if you don't want top navigation:
Code: Select all
{TPL_CONTENT_TOP}

or
Code: Select all
{TPL_CONTENT_TOP_NOPADDING}

And on bottom of tpl file put this if you want bottom navigation:
Code: Select all
{TPL_CONTENT_BOTTOMNAV1}<table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" width="100%">
<tr>
   <td align="left" class="navbar-links"><a href="{U_INDEX}">{L_INDEX}</a></td>
   <td align="right" class="navbar-text">{CURRENT_TIME}</td>
</tr>
</table>{TPL_CONTENT_BOTTOMNAV2}

or this if you don't want bottom navigation:
Code: Select all
{TPL_CONTENT_BOTTOM}

2. Unable to Find what the mod needs

This problem normally comes up when people are installing things like gender or things that will appear under names. EG in viewtopic_body.tpl find {postrow.YIM_IMG}

Solution

Edit that in the following files;

viewtopic_post_above.tpl
viewtopic_post_left.tpl
viewtopic_post_right.tpl

3. I get grey areas in tables etc.

Solution

Check what class it is assigned to those cells and change it to "row1" or "catBottom" or something like that.

First off, great thread Greg thank you. I have a question, do I need to edit the tpl files that are in the admin folder also? I edited all the template files and they work but I wasn't sure about the admin tpl files?

I am also trying to correct the grey but I can't seem to find exactly where to do that. Can you give me more details on correcting that also.

Thank You!

Don't edit files in admin folder. Filed in admin folder should be like subSilver.

Grey is usually caused by row class that doesn't exist. Look in page source, find cell that has gray background and change class of that cell to "row1" - "row3"

Here's the scource, can you take a look?
Code: Select all
<td class="catLeft" colspan="3" height="28"><span class="cattitle">Public Categories</span></td>
  </tr>
    <tr>
   <td class="catbottom" colspan="3" height="28"><span class="cattitle"><a href="http://www.reefrelated.com/forum/album_personal_index.php" class="cattitle">Users Personal Galleries</a>&nbsp;»&nbsp;<a href="http://www.reefrelated.com/forum/album_personal.php?user_id=2" class="cattitle">Your Personal Gallery</a></span></td>
  </tr>
</tbody></table>

<table border="0" cellpadding="1" cellspacing="2" width="100%">
  <tbody><tr>
   <td align="right"><span class="gensmall">All times are GMT - 5 Hours</span></td>
  </tr>
</tbody></table>

<table class="forumline" border="0" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="1" width="100%">
  <tbody><tr>
   <th class="thTop" colspan="4" height="25" nowrap="nowrap">Recent Public Pics</th>
  </tr>
    <tr>
   <td class="row1" colspan="4" align="center" height="50"><span class="gen">No Pics</span></td>

Is this how it should be once it's edited?
Code: Select all
<td class="row1" colspan="3" height="28"><span class="cattitle">Public Categories</span></td>
  </tr>
    <tr>
   <td class="row2" colspan="3" height="28"><span class="cattitle"><a href="http://www.reefrelated.com/forum/album_personal_index.php" class="cattitle">Users Personal Galleries</a>&nbsp;»&nbsp;<a href="http://www.reefrelated.com/forum/album_personal.php?user_id=2" class="cattitle">Your Personal Gallery</a></span></td>
  </tr>
</tbody></table>

<table border="0" cellpadding="1" cellspacing="2" width="100%">
  <tbody><tr>
   <td align="right"><span class="gensmall">All times are GMT - 5 Hours</span></td>
  </tr>
</tbody></table>

<table class="forumline" border="0" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="1" width="100%">
  <tbody><tr>
   <th class="thTop" colspan="4" height="25" nowrap="nowrap">Recent Public Pics</th>
  </tr>
    <tr>
   <td class="row3" colspan="4" align="center" height="50"><span class="gen">No Pics</span></td>

That can't be correct.

Sorry, here's the complete cell code:
Code: Select all
<table class="forumline" border="0" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="1" width="100%">
  <tbody><tr>
   <th class="thCornerL" height="25" nowrap="nowrap" width="70%">&nbsp;Category&nbsp;</th>
   <th class="thTop" nowrap="nowrap" width="60">&nbsp;Pics&nbsp;</th>
   <th class="thCornerR" nowrap="nowrap">&nbsp;Last Pic&nbsp;</th>
  </tr>
  <tr>
   <td class="catLeft" colspan="3" height="28"><span class="cattitle">Public Categories</span></td>
  </tr>
    <tr>
   <td class="catbottom" colspan="3" height="28"><span class="cattitle"><a href="http://www.reefrelated.com/forum/album_personal_index.php" class="cattitle">Users Personal Galleries</a>&nbsp;»&nbsp;<a href="http://www.reefrelated.com/forum/album_personal.php?user_id=2" class="cattitle">Your Personal Gallery</a></span></td>
  </tr>
</tbody></table>

Greetings,

No 'cattitle' is fine... you can always check the style.css file (or style.php in MorpheusX) and search for a class name you'll then see how it's meant to be entered.

OK I changed the files and here's how it looks. Is that correct? Now it's very hard to read "Users Personal Galleries » Your Personal Gallery" because the font is blue like the background.
