Two little questions concering the .style styles for eXtreme styles mod:
  1. There are a few options to upload styles in ACP.
These don't have to be unpacked I guess? Or are other extensions allowed exept .style?
  2. Are .style Archieves gzipped? (I had a look at the core and found functions for gzipping).

Btw: And nr.6 in your list should say "configuration" not configiration :)

Typo fixed. :D

This tutorial is for usual styles installation, not for .style files. Tutorial for .style files is in xs_mod tutorials forum.

Greetings,

Most styles are 'zip' files and therefore winzip should do the trick...

Yes, but...

Where do you DOWNLOAD a style so you can unpack it? (Apologies if this is a total time waster!)

Hi, I am trying to upload an style to my site. I have already unpacked the style with all its structure in my PC, but now when trying to upload from mi PC to my site, I go to the administration panel/import styles and then I want to upload the style from the location I put it, but, what files should I upload? is there an order to do that? or what should I do? Sorry my question is probably is so dumb, but I am really desesperated with this, I've been trying this for the past 3 days with no success, someone could help me?

Thanks in advance !!!!

Greetings,

Upload the style to the templates directory (folder) with an FTP Client program making sure to keep the directory name as is... i.e. subSilver works, subsilver won't then go to the ACP and you can then install the style as it "should", if uploaded correctly, appear in the list of styles to install.

Oh no -- Import?!
... when trying to upload from mi PC to my site, I go to the administration panel/import styles ...
Help... I don't seem to have administration panel/import styles. Unless I am completely blind, where in the menu do I find it? All I see is Add, Create, Export and Management. What, is there a hidden link to Import? :( Now I am worried. Hope there isn't a glitch... (I would also need to import my own template, when I am finished with it.)

Greetings,

Upload the template and it will appear on the 'add' option you mention... ;) along with an option to 'install' it... :D

Really sorry...

Postby sketches on Sun Sep 25, 2005 1:43 am

 And how do I upload my template, if there isn't even an upload option?

Or is that the FTP client thing CyberAlien was talking about in the first post?

P.S. (Last question, I promise...) After I do upload my template, will I be able to use it as a test just to see how everything goes with the images and layout & all, and easily change/update it at any time by quickly re-uploading it with the same name? Thank you.. :)

Greetings,

You will need to download an FTP client from http://www.smartftp.com (or something similar)

You then have to fill in the FTP details of your server. And then follow the procedure like so - viewtopic.php?p=50064#50064
