Limiting user access to individual forums

Postby Russel on Sun Feb 25, 2007 8:28 pm

I have a free site that has about 180 users. I want to allow a new user in but not give him access to two forums. I know I can set the two forums to private and then disallow him access to those two forums, but the best I can tell, I would have to take the other 180 users and individually provide them with access. That, of course, is very time consuming (it took me 30 minutes to do 20 users). Any other options that I'm not aware of or not finding here? I've been reading and searching for about an hour here now. Thanks, folks.

Thank you. That is useful. However, I still have 180 users that I have to get into that new group, which I have named "Private." I can find no way to do that other than adding each user individually/manually.

For example, all my 180 Users are "registered" because it's a semi-private forum with moderation. Is there a way to change them all to "private" users and let the new, rowdy guy in on a limited bases as a "registered" user, or to create a "limited" group that only has one person in it (currently) that is disallowed access to two forums?

Thanks again.
