MP3 player in header?

Postby Case on Tue Feb 20, 2007 3:51 pm

Is it possible to add an mp3 player to the overall header that won't reload every time you browse to a different page on the forum?

If you place the code in the overall_header the player restarts every time you go to another page. Which obviously isn't much use.

Is there any way round it?

Nope. The only way to do it is to put forum in frameset.

Greetings,

Case I am shocked at you asking the question in the first place... if you think about it the 'overall_header.tpl' is loaded EVERY time you visit any page on a forum... therefore anything in there is going to be reloaded... or were you having an off day?

That was your cue!! You were supposed to arrive with a complex modification (easymod compatible of course and XS BBCode compliant) made up of functions, arrays and path...server....erm...module...thingys to resolve the issue.

*sigh* Must I do EVERYTHING myself?

There is another solution, but its slightly more complex: rewrite browser code so it won't reset object when page is reloaded if new page has the same object. Sources for lolzilla are publicly available, so it shouldn't be a problem.

...which gave me idea for one more solution: use "time machine" to go back few decades when html was being invented, join W3C and add special html tag for mp3 that won't stop when page is reloaded.

Could you not just have it open in a small popup window?

Yea, that's a good idea. Thinking outside the box (literally). I like it.
